SAR is delighted to receive innovative and engaging proposals for eco animation short films from all over the world to fire up change in our collective environmental conscience.

Situated just outside Saint Remy de Provence, SAR seeks to work with, and tap into the unique pool of a world-class animation industry based in and around neighbouring Arles, to support emerging talent in a global context.

SAR's objective is to award one of the competing proposals for an 'Eco-Ani-Short' touching on any aspect of the environment such as climate change, endangered oceans, resource scarcity, future of food and agriculture, future cities, energy supply, mobility, species diversity and waste.

Submissions will be judged by two different Juries of relevant and reputable environmental, arts and animation professionals. Considering factors like innovative animation technique, soundtrack, originality, clarity and relevance of the message, visual language, script, artistic scope, accuracy of environmental issues and, if applicable, humour.

In a two-step process, the SAR winner will be voted from a shortlist of three competing proposals.

We believe by giving the director the chance to experiment and refine their skills through coaching and dialogue, will increase their likelihood of commercial success and finding their signature voice.

In recent years Arles, Avignon, Marseille, and Montpellier have turned into an animation and CGI hub. Therefore, due to its convenient location, SAR can offer a unique opportunity to the SAR Resident to engage with specialists and animation schools of the region, exploring the entire range of animation techniques.
